My name is Wenjun Chen, but my friends call me Susan or Suchen. I am a senior studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill double majoring in Communication and African American Studies and minoring in Chinese. Coming to UNC as a first generation college student, I told myself that I would consider every major, but Business solely because of the fact that I have grown up in the business industry and my family life centered around this industry. I wanted to do something different, but as I have gotten older and begun my senior year of college, I have come to realize that business is something that comes naturally to me and truly reflects my inner passion and talent. During all three years of my college undergraduate experience, I have tried to avoid business solely because I was afraid that I would end back in my family’s restaurant business but what I have discovered is that there are a plethora of choices one has in business, such as marketing, accounting, public relations, etc. It is through the UNC Business Essentials Program that I was able to get my first real glimpse into different aspects of business in the corporate world and I am very excited and thankful that I was given this opportunity to serve as an ambassador for this wonderful program.
