Learning to Talk the Talk

The most valuable skill that I learned from UNC Business Essentials was everything in the Business Communications module.  In this module, I learned how to properly communicate and write for a business setting. This module stated that headings were important to allow the reader to know what topics you will be addressing and also organizes the document for the reader, ensuring that they read it as it was intended. The module emphasizes the importance of the visual, even in written documents, that way, the reader does not feel overwhelmed and can access the information quickly.  This information will be useful when seeking a job because I can use these skills in corresponding with future employers and use them at my first job.  With Read More

Adding Kenan-Flagler to the List

My favorite aspect of UBE was that it is self-paced and thus perfectly tailored to the lives of busy, involved UNC students. I completed the UBE program this past summer while working a 40-hour-plus a week internship coordinating a summer program through a local non-profit.  Although I was busy every weekday and travelling on many weekends, the flexibility of the UNC UBE program enabled me to pace myself in a unique way tailored to my schedule. My Summer Experience with the UNC Business Essentials Program

This past summer, I had the opportunity to complete the UNC Business Essentials Program, an online 60-hour course offered through Kenan-Flagler Business School equipping the student with the basics of a business education.  Having also accepted a full-time internship with a local non-profit organization, I went into the summer anticipating that I would not have much free time at all as I expected most of my waking hours devoted towards one or the other. What I found instead is that the flexibility of the UNC Business Essentials Program enabled me to complete my coursework on time, excel in my internship and still have enough time to travel and socialize.  Having graduated from the program, I would strongly advise any students Read More
