My name is Rachel Myrick, and I’m a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am from Charlotte, North Carolina and am majoring in Political Science and Global Studies with a minor in Creative Writing. I have had the opportunity to travel and work in developing world – in Rwanda, Belize, and Cambodia – and as a result, some of my chief interests have been international relations and development and non-profit management. In each of these experiences abroad, I have realized the necessity of a basic business knowledge – whether it is while I am analyzing a strategic plan for an agricultural organization in Phnom Penh or budgeting for a children’s summer program in San Ignacio. Regardless of what I ultimately choose to pursue academically, I feel like foundational business knowledge will be useful, if not critical, to future success.
