Creating Versatility

Whenever I am asked about the program and how it was beneficial to me I always tell people that it made me versatile.  My interest are in Marketing, Advertising, and Communications so I have no knowledge about Economics and Finance but UNC Business Essentials broke down key concepts essential to those subjects.  Now when I hear certain terms or concepts I can engage in conversation, not deep into the subject matter, but I do have a general understanding of the topics.  I am currently in the process of finding a job post-graduation and every time I look at my dresser I am confident in my abilities, even if my luck with jobs doesn’t reflect it.  I am applying for any Read More

Aspiring CEO

The most valuable skill I learned with the UNC Business Essentials program was to be versatile.  With the program you go through 6 different modules (Intro to Business, Financial Accounting, Economics & Finance, Marketing, Business Operations, and Business Communications) and that alone can prepare you for initial post-graduation jobs.  For me, it has given me an overview in various different backgrounds because in today’s job market you have to be prepared to possibly work your way up the ladder, especially in the job market I am seeking to dive into, Marketing/Advertising.  While the program had a Marketing section, thanks to this AWESOME program, I am ready to tackle any department my potential employers put me in as a new hire. You Can DO IT, Especially If I Could

When I first heard about UNC Business Essentials, I was a little nervous.  The girl who told me about it said that I had my work cut out for me, and because I chose to do it over the summer, I was really scared.  I was enrolled in Maymester, Summer Session I, Summer Session II, I had work study, and I had an internship; so it was safe to say that I was afraid that I had signed up for an impossible task.  However, the program surprised me.  For me, the Economics & Finance and the Financial Accounting sections were the hardest.  Financial Accounting surprised me the most because it was the one that I struggled with the most, but Read More
