My decision to follow through with UNC Business Essentials was only made after I had found the answer to one of my biggest questions – How in the world will this program help me out in the health care and fitness industry? Connecting UBE to the Real World

One feature of the Business Essentials program that I found extremely useful and interesting was the discussion board linked to each module. Because the program is open not only to students but also to professionals, the variety of discussion posts – whether in the form of questions, commentaries, or anecdotes from professional experience – really helped me to synthesize the information I had learned in the module with real-life experiences and draw connections with some of the questions and thoughts I had in my own mind. I began the UBE coursework with very limited knowledge of what business was all about. I was not sure exactly what to expect, or how well I would be able to relate to what I would learn. After the completion of the program, I felt that I had acquired a basic yet broad understanding of the major components of business. I realized in retrospect that I had started with an understanding of business primarily from a managerial perspective, and UBE allowed me to see business from all sides.
