I’m Ariel, a senior at UNC Chapel Hill, from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I am a Communications major with a concentration in Speech and Hearing Sciences. I am also minoring in Spanish for the Medical Profession and Religious Studies. I aspire to become a speech therapist and work with the geriatric population. I’ve volunteered and work in nursing facilities since I was fifteen and have developed a passion for the elderly. I look forward to helping patients regain communication skills in those who have suffered from strokes and aphasia. I also seek to serve the growing Spanish speaking elderly community in my work as a bilingual speech therapist. Working with the elderly as well as the Hispanic community will be super rewarding and I can’t wait to start my career.Although I plan to focus my career in the medical field, I understand that business aspects are involved with every profession. Due to this, I chose to take part in the UNC Business Essentials program in order to gain business knowledge. This knowledge will be beneficial in my future endeavors as a speech therapist and potential business woman.
