I think working through the business certificate while interning in retail management has allowed me to benefit more from each program. Last night, I was having a sleepover with some of my friends from high school. As we were talking about our current lives, the conversation turned to boys. One of my friends was saying how it’s nice when other men express interest in her because then she is able to lord it over her boyfriend. When I first learned about and began the UNC Business Essentials program, I already knew it would be a great addition to my resume for future job possibilities. I didn’t realize, however, that much of what I learned would be quite useful to me in my chosen career path. I am preparing for graduate school this fall for a Masters in Textiles, specifically Textile Design. Not exactly a well-known major, such as education, or psychology, for example. Whenever I say the word “textiles”, people tend to give me a blank look. Saying “fashion design” is easier, but that’s not really my interest.
