Impact of UBE During My Internship

I think working through the business certificate while interning in retail management has allowed me to benefit more from each program. The Business Essentials program has complemented the lessons and logic that I have been learning through my internship and the application of the business ideas on a daily basis has helped reinforce the concepts I am learning as I work through the six courses. I realized this great benefit of pairing a retail (or probably any business-related) internship with the Business Essentials certificate when I began the marketing course. Maximizing Your Strengths with UBE

I have always been blessed with a naturally outgoing persona that serves me well when interacting with others, developing report, and communicating in an effective manner. However, the UNC Business Essentials Program has taught me how to take this personal strength of mine and translate it into an important business skill. I learned how to utilize special structuring such as spacing within writing Read More

Although I have had little opportunity to apply the things that I’ve learned from Business Essentials in a business setting, I have realized how the principles which are taught in Business Essentials are Read More

Applying UBE in my future

When I first learned about and began the UNC Business Essentials program, I already knew it would be a great addition to my resume for future job possibilities. I didn’t realize, however, that much of what I learned would be quite useful to me in my chosen career path. I am preparing for graduate school this fall for a Masters in Textiles, specifically Textile Design. Not exactly a well-known major, such as education, or psychology, for example. Whenever I say the word “textiles”, people tend to give me a blank look. Saying “fashion design” is easier, but that’s not really my interest. In short, I’m planning on working with environmentally-friendly apparel and fabrics. So I didn’t really expect this program Read More
