Leveraging Business Essentials Training in Job Interviews

Over the past few years I have enjoyed being a liberal arts major here at the University of North Carolina.  I choose my course of study, Political Science, based on my passion for politics and my belief that possibly some day I would work in a related field.  However, as the years went by I started realizing how much I needed to learn basic business training. So when the Kenan-Flagler Business School started offering the UNC Business Essentials program I knew I had to join.  The program is all online and has provided me with the basics of learning business at my own pace.  This business training has been very helpful very recently as I have been interviewing with different Read More

Archaeologist + Dean’s List + Business Skills > Archaeologist+ Dean’s List

This year, maybe more so than ever before, students are looking towards graduation with excitement, and anticipation, but also with fear.  Of course some people have it figured out.  I have friends who are Rhodes Scholars and friends going into the Peace Corp, friends landing jobs with the FBI and friends moving directly into grad school.  But what about the rest of us?  What about the people graduating who are actively looking for a job or those who really have no idea what they’re about to do? Bringing the real-world and business world closer to home

With UNC Business Essentials, the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School has created an opportunity that enables me to bring the business world and the real world closer to home before I have even graduated.  Student Ambassadors and the peers to whom we reach out have the chance to learn basic business concepts to further their passions in ways that have previously been less accessible.  As an ambassador, I get the unique opportunity to use my campus networks, my creative talents and my leadership skills to engage my peers to seek opportunities above and beyond their current degrees. As a student of the certificate program, I have learned that when taking full advantage of the program, the effects are immediate.   I have Read More

Non-business major appreciates boost from program

I am very pleased with the UNC Business Essentials program.  I started the program in December and love the flexibility it allows to go at your own pace.  My favorite part of the program is the option to work remotely on your computer without being connected to the Internet.  This feature allows me to access my modules at any time and anywhere, which is awesome!  The tutors for each module have also been a plus for the program.  They respond promptly and thoroughly to questions posed so that you really grasp the concepts. I would definitely recommend the UNC Business Essentials Certificate Program to anyone who wants an upper hand in life.  The material definitely gives you the foundation needed Read More
