This past week I participated on a team of five Kenan-Flagler students in the Renewable Energy Case Competition (RECC) hosted by the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan and sponsored by Acciona and the Friedman Family Foundation. The case asked participating teams to recommend the optimum storage technology for a wind project and a solar project. Storage represents an incredible opportunity for wind and solar. Storage technology enables solar and wind projects to store energy generated during off-peak hours and sell it to the grid during peak hours, when the cost of energy is higher. Getting Involved in UNC’s Sustainable Business Incubator (BASE)
This past Thursday evening, I participated in the first event for the next group of UNC’s Business Accelerator for Sustainable Enterprise (BASE). I will be acting as a “consultant” for two of the 15 organizations, Builders of Hope and Oxide Architecture, but I’m really excited because I believe I’ll be able to learn a lot from individuals from each of these two organizations and the 13 other companies participating in the BASE program. These entrepreneurs are focused on green building, providing environmentally-friendly products, and producing renewable energy. To put it simply, this group has a lot of triple-bottom line potential.
