Shandra Jones

shandraI am Shandra Jones, Associate Director of MBA Admissions.  Originally from Alabama, I relocated to North Carolina from New York in 2008.  After graduating with my B.A. from Stanford University, I had the fun opportunity to combine my interests in fashion, operations and business management as an Assistant Buyer at Limited Too.  And I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Columbus, Ohio during that time! I then spent the next five years managing both the research department and Human Resources functions for a preeminent legal search firm in Manhattan.  While in New York, I counseled many pre-law professionals, volunteered as a college counselor to underprivileged high school students in Harlem through the Children’s Aid Society, and co-chaired one of Stanford’s alumni networks in New York City.  Those experiences provided me with a great foundation in team and change management as well as pre-professional counseling.  Then, after the fateful experience of lugging my daughter’s stroller up one-too-many subway steps, I moved to North Carolina and transitioned my career to admissions.
I know I made the right decision because I love North Carolina and enjoy traveling the world to meet our prospective students  and gaining the combination of skills and responsibilities necessary to excel here in MBA Admissions.  And since I truly believe that human resources are among the most valuable resource any organization has, I am excited to be one link in the process of developing the leaders of the future who will shape the course of our communities and world at large.
