This year our popular Dean’s Speaker Series kicks off on Monday, October 10, featuring Tom Long (AB ’81), CEO of MillerCoors. The speech will be held at 5:30 p.m. in UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Koury Auditorium and all are welcome to attend.
Long will discuss the various facets (marketing, advertising, finance, operations) of running MillerCoors, a Fortune 500 company that controls 30 percent of the market in a the ever-changing brewing industry. He is a UNC graduate and prior to becoming CEO in the last year, he was president and chief commercial officer of MillerCoors. He joined the company as chief marketing officer in 2005. He has held senior global positions in sales, marketing and general management, working in more than 60 countries. Long spent 17 years at The Coca-Cola Company, where he held a variety of positions, including vice-president of strategic marketing global brands, vice president of strategic marketing research, and president of Coca-Cola’s Great Britain & Ireland Division.
He also serves as vice chairman of the Beer Institute, a member of the Board of Directors of Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Milwaukee Committee. His daughter Stewart is a current senior in UNC Kenan-Flagler’s undergraduate business program, and his daughter Rawlings is a UNC sophomore.
